Are you Hobo Oslo's new Food & Beverage Manager?
We are looking for a food and beverage enthusiast with a genuine passion for people, guest experiences and sound business – a present and operational leader who thrives when things are happening, and who dares to challenge the established.
Hobo Oslo is not an ordinary hotel. We are a living meeting place in the heart of the city – a place where local and international guests meet through food, drink, music, art and culture. A house with personality, energy and low thresholds, where we work every day to create real, informal and proactive hospitality. With us, human contact comes before fixed scripts, and we believe the best experiences arise when we dare to be ourselves.
Now we are looking for our new F&B Manager – a leader who will be close to the daily operations, the people and the guests, and who will help shape and further develop the food and beverage experiences across Hobo Oslo.
This is an operational leadership position. You will not only plan, delegate and follow up – you will be present in the house, know your teams, see the guests and contribute to making things actually happen. You will have the overall responsibility for our F&B concepts, and must ensure high quality, good guest experiences, engaged employees and healthy financial operations.
At the same time, you will have the opportunity to develop Hobo as a natural meeting place for food, drink and culture in Oslo – and put your own stamp on how we take the house forward.
Our concepts
Hobo Oslo houses several different food and drink concepts, each with its own personality and function, but with a shared ambition: to create life in the house and be relevant to the city around us.
Yeast: An informal and playful pizza spot with 20 seats, lots of soul and a focus on pizza al taglio and great experiences.
Hobo Bar: The house's pulsating meeting point, from morning coffee and breakfast to drinks, music and late nights.
Space By: Quality coffee, pastries, lunch, record shop and art exhibitions – a creative meeting place that connects Hobo to the city's local scene.
M&E and event stage: Flexible and unique arenas for events, pop-ups, standup, live music and private gatherings.
Breakfast: An important part of the guest experience and the energy source that gives both hotel guests and locals a good start to the day.
The role as F&B Manager
As F&B Manager you will have the overall strategic, operational and financial responsibility for all food and beverage operations at Hobo Oslo. You lead and develop our department managers, head chef and supervisors, and ensure that all parts of F&B work well together – both across departments and with the rest of the hotel.
You are first and foremost a leader who likes to be where things happen. You are visible in operations, follow up your teams, meet the guests and have an alert eye for both what works and what can be improved. You understand that good operations are built through presence, clarity and continuous follow-up – not just through plans and reports.
You must be comfortable rolling up your sleeves when needed, supporting the team during busy periods and being a natural part of the daily operations. You set the standard through your own presence and ensure that our concepts live up to the Hobo experience, every single day.
You are passionate about food, drink, culture and guest experiences, and dare to challenge the established. We like to push boundaries, test new ideas and find out what can be even better.
At the same time you know that good experiences must be built on a solid financial foundation. You have control of KPIs, budgets, food cost, payroll costs and staffing – and are able to translate numbers and insights into concrete actions that deliver results.
You report to the General Manager and become part of the hotel's leadership team (LG). Here you will have an important role in the strategic development of Hobo Oslo, while your main focus will be to ensure a strong, efficient and inspiring daily operation.
Your areas of responsibility
Be close to the daily operations and ensure that all F&B departments function well – from opening to closing.
Lead and follow up department managers, head chef and restaurant managers through visible, available and clear leadership.
Be present in operations together with the teams, support during busy periods and ensure that the guest experience is always central.
Ensure high service and product quality through continuous follow-up, training, coaching and clear expectations.
Ensure good routines and standards within operations, service, cleaning, quality and guest safety – and follow up that they are actually complied with.
Support the respective department managers in developing menus for daily operations and events.
Develop concepts, campaigns and events that create activity in the house, strengthen local relevance and contribute to profitable growth.
Have result, budget and cost responsibility, with close follow-up of food cost, payroll percentage, productivity and profitability.
Ensure effective staffing and shift planning based on forecasts, occupancy, activity level, staff needs and applicable legislation.
Build and develop strong teams through presence, coaching, trust, clear expectations and continuous follow-up.
Ensure good internal communication and collaboration across F&B, kitchen, hotel and other departments.
Ensure compliance with public requirements and internal routines, including IK-Mat, HSE and alcohol serving licence (IK-Alcohol).
Take initiative and solve everyday challenges, with the ability to prioritise, decide and act when the situation requires it.
Represent Hobo Oslo at relevant events. Build networks and take part in the industry.
We believe you will succeed with us if you
Have solid experience with operational management and leadership of F&B businesses, preferably from concept-driven restaurants or lifestyle hotels.
Are a present, inspiring and unifying leader who puts people first – and who understands that good results are created through good teams.
Enjoy being out in operations, close to guests and employees, and are comfortable taking part in practical work when needed.
Have a strong commitment to food, drink, guest experiences and culture, combined with good financial understanding and execution ability.
Are confident with financial management tools, budgeting and staffing planning. Experience with PMI is a great advantage.
Have a relevant network in the industry and enjoy the role of ambassador for Hobo Oslo, our concepts and our culture.
Enjoy high tempo, many parallel processes and a workday where no two days are exactly the same.
Are curious, proactive and comfortable testing new ideas – even when not everything is fully thought through in advance.
Communicate well in a Scandinavian language and English, both orally and in writing. A Scandinavian language is not a requirement, but an advantage.
The most important thing is not that you tick every single box. We are most concerned with who you are as a leader, what you can contribute, and what you want to create together with us.
Why work at Hobo Oslo?
With us you become part of an international, informal and energetic working environment with great headroom, diversity and creative joy. We believe in trust rather than unnecessary hierarchy, and that the best experiences are created when people are given room to be themselves, take responsibility and make a difference.
As F&B Manager you will have significant influence and freedom to shape the further development of one of Oslo's most exciting hotel and meeting places. You will work closely with an engaged team, help create new experiences and further develop as a leader in a large and forward-leaning group.
