This time we are not writing that "Radio Wataha helps"
Because this story is not about us.
We want to show a man who was part of the Polish community in Norway, returned to Poland and did not close the door behind him when he crossed the border.
Marek Sołowiej, known as Czudo, today uses his activity on social media for something more than entertainment. He organizes people, combines music with helping and directs attention where it would be difficult to break through thousands of other pieces of information without publicity.
Radio Wataha is joining this story as a media patron and a platform that wants to show it.
Not to claim the help as our own.
Because it is worth showing what our compatriots do even when their Norwegian chapter of life has already ended.
You can leave Norway. Does Norway leave the person?
This question may sound a little provocative.
Over years of emigration we learn self-reliance, but also how much another person is needed. Far from the family home we quickly discover that community is not an abstract concept.
Someone will help find an apartment.
Someone will pick you up from the airport.
Someone will tell you where to go with your documents.
Someone will share information when someone is doing badly.
Perhaps that is precisely why we so often later see our compatriots organizing fundraisers, events, associations or simply helping a specific person.
Is there some "Norwegian aura of helping"?
That cannot be measured.
But you can show people who take this idea with them further.
And that is exactly how we view Czudo's story.
Now it's about Piotr
Marek's current campaign concerns Piotr Bieńkowski.
Piotr is 22 years old and lives in Greater Poland. The official fundraiser on the Siepomaga Foundation indicates, among other things, cerebral palsy, chronic respiratory failure, epilepsy and muscle atrophy. His mother Janina cares for him every day. In an update to the fundraiser she described that Piotr no longer sits independently and remains bedridden, and his increasing body weight makes daily care and transfers ever more difficult for her. Siepomaga Foundation
We do not want to construct the story here by competing over suffering.
More important is a very concrete question:
what does this family need now?
A wheelchair and a bed – concrete instead of a general "help"
According to information provided to us directly by Piotr's mother, one of the current goals is the purchase of a specialist transport/stroller wheelchair.
The cost is about 12 300 zł, of which Piotr's mother declares the ability to contribute about 4300 zł.
The second need is a specialist orthopedic bed with features that facilitate care and nursing. Its cost is about 24 000 zł.
And here comes Czudo.
Not as a public official.
Not as a foundation.
Not as someone who tells the family what they should do.
Only as a person, who says:
let's try to gather people.
On October 17 Czudo wants to combine music with assistance
According to materials provided to the editorial team a special live hosted by Czudo is scheduled to take place on October 17, 2026 at 18:00.
The campaign has been combined with the online event “Show Talent”. Music, a contest, an audience and activity on social media are intended to become a way to draw attention to Piotr's fundraiser.
This is precisely the element of this story that particularly interested us.
Helping does not always have to look like a sad plea in front of a camera.
You can use music.
Talent.
Fun.
Reach.
Community.
And turn it into an event that attracts people, and only afterwards show them that there is a person who truly needs support.
Radio Wataha grants the campaign media patronage
Promotional materials for the event feature Polish Radio Wataha in Norway as a media patron.
And that is what we want to focus on.
Our role is not to say:
“look how we're helping.”
Our role is to say:
“look at what a man who was part of our emigrant community is doing.”
If, thanks to this, another person learns about Piotr, visits the fundraiser, sends an SMS, shares the broadcast or simply tells someone else about it, the media have done what they should.
Help does not have to end with emigration
At Radio Wataha we met thousands of people over the years.
Some stayed in Norway.
Others returned to Poland after a few years.
Some moved further away.
But returning to the country does not mean that a person ceases to belong to the history of the Polish community in Norway.
That experience remains.
Contacts remain.
Friendships remain.
Sometimes the conviction remains that if you can do something for another person, it is worth at least trying.
Marek's story is exactly one such example.
So who is Czudo in this story?
We don't want to turn him into a monument.
Something else is much more interesting.
Marek found a way in which he himself can help.
Not everyone has the money to finance treatment.
Not everyone runs a foundation.
Not everyone knows the regulations.
But someone can sing.
Someone runs a live stream.
Someone has a group of people who listen to him.
Someone knows how to make graphics.
Someone has a radio.
Someone will share.
And someone will transfer 10 zł.
And only the combination of these small things begins to create real help.
Piotr already has years of struggle behind him
The official fundraiser story on Siepomaga shows that help for Piotr did not begin now. The fundraiser was launched as early as 2021, and in subsequent years his mother published information about his deteriorating health, rising care costs, rehabilitation and the need for additional equipment.
That is also an important part of this story.
Sometimes a successful charity campaign brings to mind a single evening when the total suddenly jumps.
In the lives of families caring for a seriously ill person, assistance is needed not just for one day.
It is needed for years.

But the heroes here are the people who decided to act.
Does Norway teach people to help?
Perhaps not Norway itself.
Perhaps more the life of emigrants.
The awareness that when you are far from home, sometimes everything depends on whether someone nearby will offer you a hand.
That is why it is especially worth showing our compatriots also after their return to Poland.
Because the Polish diaspora is not just an address of residence.
It is also experiences, relationships and things we have learned from each other.
Marek „Czudo” Sołowiej returned to Poland.
But the need to bring people together around a common goal apparently went with him.
And that is precisely why we tell this story.
