We are looking for a press adviser with experience from press work and a good understanding of how the media operate. With us you will have a central role in communicating an important societal mission and contribute to building trust through open, clear and professional communication.
As a press adviser you will handle ongoing media inquiries, plan media work and contribute to strategic communications. We are looking for someone who is confident and professional in handling inquiries, develops clear messages and gives good, professional advice to managers and employees who will speak to the media. You are able to make complex matters understandable, and communicate our work in a trust-building way. The role involves close collaboration with colleagues, professional environments and management across the organization.
The position is placed in the Department for Press and Public Contact. The department works strategically with press, public contact and internal communication, and contributes to ensuring that Utdanningsdirektoratet reaches out with knowledge, builds trust and participates actively in the public debate.

Responsibilities
  • be press contact and handle media inquiries
  • develop cases for media coverage, and work proactively with press pitching
  • advise management and professional departments on media cases
  • prepare message notes, press releases and news articles for the website
  • contribute to the strategic development of media handling and analysis of effect
  • summarize and analyze the news landscape
  • be on press duty and prepare a daily news overview for managers and employees
  • contribute to the department's and division's other tasks

 
What competence are we looking for?
To be qualified for the position you must have:
  • relevant education at minimum bachelor's level, in communication, journalism or equivalent
  • minimum three years' relevant experience with press work and operational communications advising during the last five years
  • very good written and oral communication skills in Norwegian

 
In addition it is an advantage if you have
  • experience with strategic press advising to managers
  • experience with crisis communication
  • knowledge of the education sector
  • experience from public administration

  • the position is paid as adviser (position code 1434), with an annual salary from kr 625 000 to 735 000 per year. Salary is assessed based on experience and qualifications. For particularly qualified applicants somewhat higher salary may be considered.
