From Wrocław via Oslo, Gothenburg and Copenhagen — Lucy Brown turns her Scandinavian journey into music. The Polish violinist and composer is preparing the premiere of the album „Nordic Violin Concerto”, on which jazz, a string orchestra and electronics meet. Before the record is released on 23 October 2026, the artist will perform with her quintet in Oslo. It’s a good moment to get to know her better and listen to what she has to tell.
Lucy Brown — a Polish talent on Scandinavian stages

On Twoja Norwegia we want to showcase people who help shape the life of our community. Also those who take the stage, realize original ideas and share their sensitivity with audiences of different nationalities. Lucy Brown is one of those people.
The violinist from Wrocław developed her project while studying in Oslo, Gothenburg and Copenhagen. Each of these cities brought different encounters, inspirations and emotions. Out of this experience came „Nordic Violin Concerto” — her first original violin concerto.
You can read about the preparations for its premiere performance in an earlier article by Radio Wataha about Lucy Brown and her musical journey through Scandinavia. Today that story enters the next stage: the concert recording will reach listeners as an album.
„Nordic Violin Concerto”: three cities, three chapters of life
The composition is divided into three parts named after airports. This idea nicely reflects the rhythm of life between countries: arrival, getting to know a place, building relationships and another move.
In the description provided by Lucy, each city has its own character. It’s a personal record of what the artist experienced during her studies.
Oslo: melody, space and the joy of discovery
The first part tells of her stay in the Norwegian capital. Lucy describes it through lyrical, heart-catching themes and melody. It was this kind of sound she wanted to surround herself with at the time.
It’s a chapter about beauty, space, satisfaction and new discoveries. A musical trace of a time when successive experiences gave energy to create.
Gothenburg: experiments and tougher emotions
The Swedish stage brought collaboration with avant-garde scene musicians and explorations using granular synthesis, that is, processing very short fragments of sound.
Here also appears the less cheerful side of moving. Starting from scratch in an unknown city, difficulties finding one’s bearings in a new environment and room for sadness. This fragment may be particularly close to people who themselves built a life abroad.
In Lucy’s story, however, a moment of relief and joy arrives: time for another change.
Copenhagen: violin meets guitar effects
The third part is a musical record of a semester in Denmark. In Copenhagen the artist experimented with guitar effects. She used one of her favorites precisely in „Nordic Violin Concerto”.
The classical form of the violin concerto thus becomes a place for improvisation and electronic exploration. The individual parts are linked by the composer’s personal story.
Album recorded live in Oslo
The album premiere "Nordic Violin Concerto" has been announced for October 23, 2026. The material was recorded on May 20, 2026 at Victoria Nasjonal Jazzscene in Oslo.

Our Polish community also has a musical voice
Lucy’s story shows how the personal experience of living in Scandinavia can become the starting point for original creative work. Moves, new acquaintances, wonder and tougher moments receive a musical form here.
For us Lucy is one of the stars of our Polish community whom we want to support. Her path reminds us that the Polish presence in Norway is also created by culture, imagination and cooperation with people from different countries.
Support can start with a small gesture: listening to the track, recommending it to friends, or attending the concert. On October 10 in Oslo there will be an opportunity to get to know this musical story up close.
