Do you want to help develop the fire and rescue service of the future?

Namsos fire and rescue is looking for an engaged and development-oriented Fire Chief who wants to help strengthen both preparedness and competence in the organization. We are especially looking for someone who is motivated by teaching, guiding others and developing the fire and rescue service of the future through training, exercises and professional development.

About the position
At Namsos fire station there is a permanent 100% position as Fire Chief. The position is part of the preparedness department and combines operational service with responsibility for training, exercises and professional development. The Fire Chief will have an important role in the work of developing competence in the organization and contribute to ensuring that Namsos fire and rescue is equipped to meet future requirements and challenges.

Tasks:

  • Operational service as firefighter/incident commander.
  • Participation in the on-call from home arrangement every fourth week.
  • Response to fires, accidents and other acute incidents.
  • Smoke and chemical diving.
  • Contribute to competence development in the organization through planning and implementation of exercises, training and as an instructor.
  • Perform internal control and maintenance of the fire department's equipment.
  • Professional responsibility within assigned subject areas.
  • Administrative tasks.

Qualification requirements:

  • Experience with planning, implementation and evaluation of courses, training and exercises
  • Meet the medical and physical requirements for smoke divers.
  • Approved police certificate before starting in the position.
  • Experience from work in a fire department or equivalent emergency preparedness organizations.
  • Residence within five minutes' driving time from Namsos fire station.

Desired qualifications:

  • The Fire and Rescue School's basic course or vocational education in fire and rescue.
  • Leadership courses A, B and C or equivalent from the Fire and Rescue School.
  • Class C driver's license
  • Competence certificate for emergency driving, code 160
  • Good digital skills and ability to take use of new technology to strengthen competence, quality and efficiency in the fire department
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Able to and enjoys teaching and motivating others
  • Has good communication and collaboration skills
  • Is structured and responsible
  • Is engaged in professional development and improvement work.
  • Able to combine operational decisiveness with good leadership skills

Applicants who do not meet all the desired qualifications for the function as firefighter or incident commander at the time of employment must commit to completing necessary training and required courses in accordance with the applicable training plan.

If lacking a Class C driver's license, the person offered the position must commit to obtaining it within one year of employment. Costs are covered by the employee.
