Latin-Amerikagruppene i Norge (LAG) is seeking a new General Manager in a permanent position.

We are looking for someone who will strengthen LAG as an organization and contribute to greater engagement for indigenous and grassroots movements' struggle for democracy, environment and human rights in Latin America.

What we are looking for

Desired qualifications:

  • Experience with administration and financial management, including accounting, preferably experience using the accounting software Tripeltex.

  • Experience from organizational work, including political advocacy work in Norway.

  • Good Norwegian language skills and communication skills, both oral and written. Spanish and/or Portuguese skills are an advantage.

  • Experience with personnel responsibility.

  • Good knowledge of Latin American politics and society.

  • Experience with grant application work and grant management.

  • Higher relevant education is an advantage, but not a qualification requirement.

  • collaborates well with both employees, elected representatives and activists.

  • has high work capacity and the ability to keep an overview and prioritize when much is happening.

Responsibilities

The position involves varied tasks, including:

  • Professional responsibility for Norad-funded information project, management and reporting.

  • Overall responsibility for LAG's other projects, as well as work to secure new income sources.

  • Organizational development in line with adopted work plans and strategies.

  • Follow-up and facilitation for the work of the national board, the executive committee and the local chapters.

  • Budget work, financial management and accounting.

  • Internal and external communication.

  • Follow-up of routines, processes and activities in the organization.

  • Running the organization's political advocacy work on a daily basis.

  • Representation of LAG in relevant networks.

    LAG's work follows developments in Latin America and priorities from the national board. Therefore, changes may occur in the position's tasks and areas of responsibility.

Some evening and weekend work must be expected.

Start date: As soon as possible, after further agreement.

Position duration: Permanent

The position is paid according to pay grade 38 in the national collective agreement HK-AAF.

LAG's employees also have more other benefits, including:

  • Good flextime arrangement

  • 37-hour workweek, including lunch during working hours

  • Summertime from 15 May- 15 September (32.5-hour workweek)
