We are looking for a respite home for a boy aged 11. The position is 9,23% permanent with one weekend per month.

He is an active, kind and good boy with many interests that fill his days. He especially likes jumping on the trampoline, cycling, playing in the sandbox, tinkering and drawing. He is a very trusting boy who likes jokes and fun, but at the same time some activities with many people can be experienced as tiring so he thrives best together with one adult.

Who can become a respite family?

A respite family is a family that receives one child about one weekend per month. The family must have a stable life situation and be able to commit for at least one year.

The respite family must have time, energy and a bed space for an extra child. The family should have the ability for empathy and understanding of children's different needs and reactions. In most contexts it is experiencing a safe and predictable family situation that the child needs most.

Respite providers must present a police certificate. There is also a requirement for an ordinary police certificate for household members who are over 18 years. The police certificate must not be older than three months.

Working hours and compensation:

Respite providers receive a permanent employment contract in the municipality and salary and remuneration according to Kommunenes sentralforbund (KS) rates.

It is common to be a respite family every 4. weekend. Some children may need to stay extra days with the respite family during holidays. This will be clarified in each individual case. The respite family picks up the child Friday afternoon and brings them home Sunday afternoon.

If necessary equipment is needed for the child, one must be in dialogue with the unit for Adapted Services for approval before making purchases.

Travel allowance is given according to applicable rates. Work compensation is taxable.

After a valid police certificate is received, a home visit will be arranged in the relevant family.

The unit is concerned that both the contact person and the family in need shall approve the respite provider. It is important to us that the family feels it is safe to send their child to the respite provider.
