Director for Education and Culture

Education and Culture is one of three main service areas. The director is the senior manager for the unit leaders within the service area. This currently consists of a resource center for children and youth, including a health clinic, cultural center, seven municipal kindergartens, five primary schools, a lower secondary school, adult education and PPT.

We are looking for a director who can build good relationships, create engagement and participate actively in the community debate. You master combining clear leadership and wisdom with a good understanding of the interaction between politics, administration and the local community.

You can communicate well both internally and externally, and have the prerequisites to develop an organizational culture characterized by trust, cooperation and quality. At the same time, you have a strong commitment to good upbringing conditions for children and young people.

The position is part of the municipal chief executive's management team and has a central role in the further development of schools, kindergartens, the resource center for children and youth, as well as the culture and leisure area.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and further develop the main service area in line with national guidelines and municipal goals

  • Ensure good financial control and efficient use of resources within the areas of responsibility

  • Plan and implement restructuring and development processes

  • Strengthen preventive work through early intervention and cross-disciplinary collaboration

  • Ensure good cooperation, both internally in the organization and with external partners, including follow-up of regional cooperation

  • Contribute actively to building culture, structure and competence for quality and development

  • Project management and governance

Qualifications

  • Higher relevant education, preferably within educational subjects

  • Good knowledge of and leadership experience from the education/upbringing sector

  • Experience with work related to finance, personnel and restructuring

  • Good communication skills both oral and written

  • Good digital understanding
