Faith education - Etnedal and Sør-Aurdal

Etnedal church council in collaboration with Sør-Aurdal church council has a vacant 40% position as a faith education worker/ parish educator.

We are looking for a person who wishes to convey Christian faith and practice, who thrives with children and who is passionate about making the congregations' offerings accessible, relevant and inclusive for children and their families.

The church's faith education is changing and we wish to run initiatives that are relevant for children and families in our local area. It will therefore be important that the person appointed can facilitate and adapt initiatives and activities to local needs. To carry out initiatives we are dependent on good cooperation in the staff and with volunteers. We therefore seek someone with good cooperation skills and who has the ability to build relationships and networks with volunteers. In addition, the employee will work closely with other staff and together with them carry out information and profiling work.

The staffs in Etnedal and Sør-Aurdal consist of priests, organists, churchwardens, church servers and secretaries. The church office in Etnedal is located at Bruflat and in Sør-Aurdal at Tingvoll in Bagn.

The person appointed will have Etnedal church council as employer with the churchwarden as the immediate superior.

Responsibilities:

• Planning, implementation and evaluation of faith education initiatives for ages 0-18 in collaboration with staff, the faith education committee and volunteers. The initiatives can change, but currently include, among other things, baby singing, treasure hunts in the churches, Tårnagentene, Lys Våken etc.

• Be a resource in following up volunteer staff, parents and assistant leaders

• Help facilitate child and youth work

• Work with the local plans for faith education and reporting

Personal qualities:

• Good cooperation, planning and implementation skills

• Outgoing and flexible

• Responsible and able to work independently

• Good communication skills and relational competence

Qualifications:

• Relevant qualifications are catechist, theological, pedagogical or similar education

• Experience working with children and young people, and from team work

• Advantageous to have experience in singing and music, or other musical competence/interest

• Personal suitability will be emphasized

• The person appointed must be a member of the Church of Norway

• Have access to a car
